What is the real purpose of steroids?
Many people
may think that steroids are just for athletes/body builders who are
seeking a competitive advantage over other athletes. Steroids are
legally prescribed and intended for people who have low testosterone or
people who are suffer from severe illness or diseases such as cancer or
AIDS. Usually people who suffer from any of these illnesses REALLY need
help in regaining their strength. Cancer patients usually go through
chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment which has severe effects on the
body. Because these patients go through these treatments, they do not
have a lot of strength to rebuild muscle on their own so this is where
steroids come in to play. However, after treatments and once the patient
has regained enough strength on their own, the prescriptions are
usually stopped. Steroids are only bad when they are in the wrong hands,
especially in the hands of healthy athletes who are looking to gain a
competitive advantage over their peers. Athletes who do steroids are
being selfish, in a sense that they are taking drugs from people who
really need it to help with building muscle.
